2024 Cohort for the Academy for Public Scholarship on the Built Environment: CLIMATE ACTION

Washington, D.C. May 9, 2024 The Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (麻花视频) and the 麻花视频 Research & Scholarship Committee, in partnership with The OpEd Project and the University of Southern California, Annenberg Center for Climate Journalism and Communication, are pleased to announce the 2024 Cohort for the Academy for Public Scholarship on the Built Environment: CLIMATE ACTION.

This cohort includes twelve architecture faculty members whose research intersects with climate action or climate justice and is intended to help them impact conversations that affect everyone. They will participate in The OpEd Project鈥檚 virtual 鈥淲rite to Change the World鈥 workshops, connecting participants with diverse identities, voices, and ideas. Cohort members will also join a series of climate training modules led by the USC, Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism, focusing on storytelling, media, terminology, and more.

James Wasley of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and

Kenny Wong of the University of Arizona.

The cohort will present participating faculty with an extended training opportunity to expand the impact of their research and scholarship beyond the academy. After the workshop, cohort members will have up to three months of access to The OpEd Project鈥檚 Mentor-Editor network to get individualized feedback on their op-ed drafts to double their chances of publishing success. By the end of the training, cohort members are expected to complete the workshops and submit an op-ed for publication in a local, regional, or national newspaper.

The Academy for Public Scholarship on the Built Environment reflects the work of the 2023-2024 麻花视频 Research and Scholarship Committee which has been charged to expand the impact of scholarship on climate action in built environments.

The mission of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture is to lead architectural education and research. Founded in 1912 by 10 charter members, 麻花视频 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit association of over 200 member schools in several categories. These include full membership for all accredited programs in the United States and government-sanctioned schools in Canada, candidate membership for schools seeking accreditation, and affiliate membership for schools for two-year and international programs. Through these schools, over 5,000 architecture faculty are represented.
